Down cobbled streets..

sketchmansimon

Here is an image of an old, very narrow, cobbled street, and at the end - a huge cathedral made of stone. It is in watercolour, on paper, and was made as a series of similar pictorial views of a medieval city. The two 'Nuns' in the image were really actually walking along at that moment, the incident is not made-up, an afterthought, or imagined afterwards.

Watercolour and pencil on paper is a very quick method to capture a scene in detail, as the main subject here is the technical part of the building itself, and the rest follows on afterwards. The pencil forms, in this case, an important part of the image, providing the skeleton structure of the drawing itself.
