Faithful, intelligent ...

The Intelligent, faithful and ever-present German Shepherd dog is one of the most reliable dog companions we have. Used to protect, and guard, and to give loyal service to his owners.

Now, this guardian is captured in paint, in great detail, with my portrait of a German Shepherd, sure to appeal to dog lovers everywhere.

It is from my watercolour work, on paper, with lifelike colour rendition.

The art is not to overdo the details, in animal portraiture, but to finish at the right moment during the process. The paint intensity is built up gradually in washes, with a small amount of white paint also integrated to pick up the finer details. Then the paper, onto which it is painted, provides its own texture also.
