Simon's Artworld - making the image..

It isn't just a matter of clicking that camera shutter; it's about learning to react quickly to interesting situations. In a way the photo images are an extension of the more hands-on processes, like the painted pictures, capturing a moment, each with a different tool [ camera, or paint, or pencil], it all comes back to image, capture, representation.

My thoughts here are the "Sparrow hawk" in my photo image on my page. It all happened very unexpectedly and was a surprise to me, to see that magnificent bird appear nearby, just a few yards from my window.

So, there was the grab for my camera, and not so much as frantic snapping, it's about being patient, and allowing nature itself to perform for you; and that camera is in a way an extra eye for you to use. Allow the incident to unfold for you, and wait a bit, and usually you will capture something different, and often unique. "Snapping" is not the term to use its about often being prepared to let the moment happen within the frame itself.
